The
Citizens Police Academy is a joint effort between the
Beaumont Police Department, the
Pt. Arthur Police Department, the
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the
Lamar Institute of Technology. The curriculum spans 13 weeks and

exposes all attendees to various aspects of law enforcement. There are 13 Thursday night classes which generally run from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each night and two Saturday morning sessions. You must be at least 18 years of age and live or work in Jefferson County to apply. There is no charge for the course. A maximum of 36 students are allowed in the session.

The next Citizen's Police Academy class will begin August 28, 2008, and run through November 20, 2008.
After you complete the
Citizens Police Academy, you then become eligible to join the
Tri-Agency Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association which is now 200 members strong and growing. There are additional training, community service and friendship opportunities in this organization. For additional information on the
