We were VERY well fed!
At almost every dinner, and some lunches, there were shrimp (prawn) dishes.
At one lunch, hosted for us at the American University of Sharjah,
cold boiled shrimp were on the buffet.
Currently residing in Texas, I was a firm believer "that everything is bigger in Texas"
until this lunch. Note my Pilot brand pen adjacent to my dinner plate
to give a perspective on the size of these shrimp.
Similar shrimp were at many other meals either fried, tempura, or bar-b-qued.

This is the main entrance of the
SHARJAH CULTURAL CENTER
where several of our events were held.
This is clearly a world-class center.

The scene across "Culture Square" from the Cultural Center.
This is a Sharjah government building.

The government building is on the left edge of the photo.

On the right, is the government building, as above.
The statue in the center is of an open book.

Our first evening event in Sharjah was a splendid dinner.
The Sharjah Police Bagpipe Band provided a most entertaining evening.

Our wonderful and generous hosts spared no effort
in providing top quality entertainment at our evening events.
This is the French National Police Band which played for us
one evening at the Cultural Center.
They were excellent.

Another evening event was at a waterside park.
We were entertained by native tribal dancers, folk songs, and folk music interludes.

This is the scene from my room on the 12th floor of the
Holiday Inn Continental Resort - Sharjah.
Taken through a tinted window, this view to the north-east,
shows one of the beach front villas common in the area.
This is the Arabian Gulf (known in the west as the Persian Gulf).

Scene from the hallway outside my room, looking to the north-west.
At the bottom is the hotel beach; below the center is a swimming island,
and near the top is the harbor break-water.
Not visible, is the American carrier task force just offshore in the Gulf, in international waters.
This task force participated in the air attacks on Iraq while we were in the region.
