"Crazy John" from Texas:
Greg O'Neil and a few others are looking for a guy nicknamed, "Crazy John," who had served with the Americal Division, 196th LIB, 4th/31st, Charlie
Company, 3rd Plt., 3rd Sqd. around June 1970 till June 1971 or possibly a little later than June.  If anybody remembers Johns last name or if you John
see this by chance and make a connection with the nickname please e-mail me at Owhatmeworry@aol.com or write me at 1337 Termino Ave., Long Beach, CA
90804.  I and a few others would like to hear from you.  For we have thought of you often over the years.

Near the beginning of Operation Meade River, on November 22, 1968, Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines crossed the river ----- and lost four
Marines KIA, med-evaced seven emergency WIA's, and kept a bunch of wounded hanging around and waiting for a more promising helicopter to get
them out.

I'd like to dedicate this day to the remembrance of Walter Laverte Burke, a young Marine who gave his life while saving the life of Ed Behnke. After Ed
had been seriously wounded in the shoulder, neck, and jaw, PFC Burke took him quite always to a position of relative safety. As Ed scurried over/was
pushed over that last elevated rice paddy dike, Burke was shot and killed approximately one foot from safety.

(Ed Behnke has spent a lot of time seeking contact with Burke's family. If you have any suggestions for locating the family of this deceased Marine
from New York City, please pass them along for Ed.)

On November 22, we also lost Staff Sergeant Kenneth Baker and Corporal Andy Ruiz. I need help remembering the name of the fourth Marine. Was it
Crandell?

I hope we can pause for a moment today in remembrance.
