Where do I start? Back in the dark ages (early 70's) when I was young(er) and dumb(er), I decided to quit college, get married and have babies.  After 20+ years of working to support those two "babies," they were quite disgusted to discover that I was going to college with them.

My degrees include an AA from San Jacinto College, a BS/Accounting from University of Houston - Clear Lake, and last but not least, an MBA from Lamar University - Beaumont.

Shortly after completing my master's thesis I received a call from a friend - Lamar State College-Port Arthur was in need of an Accounting Instructor.  I discovered that I love teaching, and the rest is history. I now teach on a part-time basis at Lamar University.

I brought broad industrial experience to my new career, including managerial, accounting and consulting experience in several fields.  I have management experience in manufacturing, accounting (tax, for-profit, & non-profit), small business consulting and statistical analysis, as well as in various other service industries and retail marketing. Academia has been quite a change of pace, but I enjoy helping others learn. I recently completed my CPA internship as an employee of Lawrence, Blackburn, Meek, Maxey & Co., contracted out as Controller for Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center.

I have always been something of an entrepreneur, and usually had my own business in addition to my "day job" - yes, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool workaholic! Today I am a Network Marketing Professional. I thoroughly enjoy managing my own successful organization (KEM Enterprises) and teaching others how to start and build their own business (Mentoring For Free).

My company, Vitamark International, has recently launched a great new energy drink to supplement our vast line of nutrutional supplements and other products. If you are interested in becoming an Energy Drink Tester just register for your free sample at WhoCravesCrave.com. Yes, I'm the one with those signs up all over campus! Crave Energy tastes good, lasts a long time (4 - 6 hours), and doesn't have the nasty side effects so many of the others have - no jitters, no headache, NO CRASH! And it's portable - just mix with water, shake, and enjoy.

My hobbies include genealogy, reading, woodworking, soap and candle-making, gardening, ceramics, quilting, and many other kinds of arts and crafts. I am currently in the process of setting up an on-line craft business to provide an outlet for some of my projects and to keep me out of trouble in my spare time. :-)  Please feel free to visit Kathy's Craft Korner, and sign up to receive a discount coupon to my grand opening - coming soon. I love kids (especially my 4 grandkids!) and animals. I am a "people person."

I hope this website will prove helpful to you.  I'm looking forward to a fulfilling learning experience for each of us this semester. Please let me know how I can help you reach your full potential as we work together.
