PowerPoint Slides             Videos

I believe that this course will challenge you academically, and you will need to study! If you spend at least six to eight hours per week outside of class studying for this course, you should do well. Some chapters will not require as much time, but you may need to allow extra study time for others.

Read each chapter before lecture, and be prepared to discuss the material. The homework is geared to aid class discussion and to ensure your understanding of the concepts. Be prepared to discuss the assigned exercises and problems (you may use your notes). All "Exercises" and "Problems" should be neatly written before arriving in the classroom. Please prepare all PROBLEMS on separate pages, as one may be collected for grading. You may be asked to put a particular exercise or problem on the board for class discussion.

Print out the PowerPoint slides provided (use black & white handout format, 3 to a page, to facilitate note-taking during lectures). Bring your text, paper, pencil, a calculator, and a scantron to all class sessions. You will want to take notes during the lectures, as you will be held responsible for all material covered in the text and in lectures. We will not have a formal review session for exams, but I will make suggestions during lectures regarding "good test questions" and things you "will see again." Information stressed in this manner is almost guaranteed to appear on one or more of the exams.

Be sure to note the following sections in each chapter. They may be discussed in class, and will make good quiz or exam questions. You WILL be held responsible for all assigned readings, even though some topics may not be given in-depth coverage during lectures.

List of key terms (end of chapters)

Objectives listed in chapter introductions

"Check Yourself" examples

"Curious Accountant" examples

"Reality Bytes" examples

"Topic Tackler" disc accompanying text

Exhibits & Appendices in each chapter

Questions at end of chapters

Please note that all exams will comprise approximately 60% theory (from text and class notes) and 40% problems (similar to those worked in class as examples).

Use this website and your WebCT site as a guide to allocating your study time and as a reminder of the schedule of assignments, exams, important events, etc.
